Colombo: Sri Lanka’s Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) is to commence an island wide campaign at grass root level to create awareness on the current political situation and the crises faced by the country.
The month long campaign is to commence on February 2nd with the participation of all JVP leaders.
JVP Propaganda Secretary and parliamentarian Vijitha Herath said that the people are unaware of the serious implications faced by the country following the impeachment of the Chief Justice.
He emphasized that people have to be informed of the current situation in the country in order to build a broad people’s movement to fight for democracy and human rights in the country.
According to Herath, most of the meetings would be organized at homes in villages in order to build a personal rapport with the people.
